Lower league footy

by Yorkie1 @ Thursday, Nov. 06, 2008 - 15:59:36

Is anyone else in here into lower league footy. Im a York City fan through and through. Saw my first game when I was 5. Had plenty of ups and downs, mainly downs, but some highlights are winning 3-0 at Old Trafford in the league cup 13 years ago. Also beating Arsenal 1-0 in the FA Cup in 1985. We also had two epic draws with Liverpool in the cup and beaten Everton in the old League Cup. We were the first club ever to get more than 100 points in a season when we won the old 4th division in 1984.
Having said all that, most of the time its bl**dy miserable and disappointing. We're now in the Blue Square Premier formerly the Conference playing the likes of Northwich and Lewes (who?..exactly!). We've just signed an ageing Bruce Dyer, former £1m player but are still struggling to score goals. Mid-table obscurity again.
So am I the only lower league fan in here? Or are you all glory hunters?:>>

well, as a manchester lad, i always supported united.
but my home team and spiritual home will always be stalybridge celtic.
we made it into the conference once, but as it's our 100th anniversary coming up, we're setting our sights on the premiership... after all, the manager has a budget of about £2,500 for players!

Celtic for me, but I always keep an eye on Partick Thistle.
my nephews support them and have a great time going to away games. (weekend job)

Always had a soft spot for Brechin City north of the border. Not sure why.

I live in Germany, but am an avid follower of lower-league football in Berlin. It somehow seems more pure to watch TeBe or Babelsberg run out on a rain-sodden Friday than watching the big show that Hertha put on in the Olympiastadion. :)

Although the threat of family disownment means I'm a Liverpool fan I always keep up with my local Devon teams in League 2 and the Blue Square Prem...

Although as my most local team is Torquay United I'd best keep my head down after the last weekend's result! :)

My team is Everton, we get knocked out of cups by lower league teams - does that count? :))!
