Money to burn...

by Rampage @ Thursday, Oct. 09, 2008 - 14:30:57

With the news that Man City are after my team's star player, Antonio Cassano, I am gulping back my indignance in order to make this post.

Picture this scene. You're a rich Arabian/Russian/whatever and you have the finances to buy your favourite team.

Who would be your first signing and why?

Hmm, definately a right winger, that's our weakest spot.

You know... I'd quite like Joe Cole...

But you've got Man City reject Riera! How could you possibly want anyone else!? ;)

Lol, actually he's been bloody good so far on the left... (I know, I'm surprised too!)

I think that's called 'The Robbie Keane Effect'. Any player on the same team as Keane immediately looks much better than he actually is due to Keane's crapness. :)

Still rather have him than Cassano ;)

I campaigned to get Cassano-bashing into the new Terms of Service as grounds for deletion. Luckily for some, I didn't succeed... ;)

Ronaldo of course! Well on the way to being among the all time greats.

Who's your team?

I hope Ronaldo never plays for any team I like, I dislike the little asshole so much...

Have a guess mate! He's a right poser but I'd probably be worse if I was in his shoes so I can't really hold it against the lad. I freaked out a bit over the summer when I thought he was going to be sold. Kind of resigned to the fact that we'll probably only have him for one more season either way.

Ah, you're one of those...

Still, that doesn't answer the question, who would you sign to play alongside the Prissy One?

Yeah, he may be a prissy arsehole but he's our prissy arsehole!

While the Cannavaros and Nestas of this world would be tempting if it was going to be a premiership side I'd stick with players who've proven they can play in that league. That said, I would make an exception for Sergio Ramos. I'd nick Petr Cech and Frank Lampard from Chelsea, Fernando Torres and Stephen Gerrard from Liverpool and Theo Walcott and Cesc Fabrigas from Arsenal (admittedly, Theo is yet to stamp his name on the premiership, but it'll happen). I'd also take Rio Ferdinand and Evra from United and Laurson from Villa. That would be about the size of it I reckon. Because there's so many potential whingebags in the side I'd also bring in Roy Keane to manage the fuckers :)

Robbie Lawton of Altrincham FC, he was my old PE teacher, so it'd be funny to be his boss haha!

Hmm, might find it hard to justify that one to the fans, but hey, you're the wealthy Russian... :))

Its not so hard to justify it if I decide that my favourite team is now a Blue Square team (maybe Vauxhall Motors, or Southport as they'd both be local to me if I wasn't based here!) as he's one of the best central midfielders at that level!
