My favourite story from the close season...

by ajnspencer @ Friday, Jul. 25, 2008 - 05:36:30

Whatever the outcome in the end this is a top little story...

Peter Jackson is the manager of Lincoln City, during this offseason he spotted a young man hanging around outside his office.

When he went to challenge him the 24 year old said he was Romanian, his brother lived in Lincoln and could he have a trial at the club, thank you very much...

He handed over his CV and Jackson told him to come in for pre-season training and promptly forgot about him, just another random thing in a busy time for Jackson, who is only just recovering from intense medical treatments for cancer.

Well, he was reminded soon enough when Jackson came out for the first training session of pre-season... and found our Romanian friend, striker Adrian Patulea, running around the training ground... with his wife... on his back to build up his fitness.

It must of worked though, after two days of training he was thrown on during the second half of a friendly against city rivals Lincoln United.

The golden egg at the end? He went on to score a hat-trick in his short runout and is now a potential full signing.

Is it just me or is that real football rather than the daily stories about weepy diver boy and his blatant attempts to move to Madrid or whether Frank Lampard might have to move if he's not getting more than 120 grand a week...

"It must of worked though"

Or

"It must have worked though"

Otherwise, yes... ;)

He will have to carry the whole team on his back next season. Nice story.

Hehe, I hope he does well, he deserves it.

That's amazing. I assume by his unorthodox approach, that he doesn't have an agent!

Nope, doesn't sound like he needs one :))
